Photographing with Geneoh Photography for Allison and Nicholas’ Wedding | La Crosse, Wisconsin
As a photographer I have always admired Gene’s work. It has been a few years since I have met up with him and photographed a wedding, so when I got a call that he had an emergency and needed me to come photograph in La Crosse with him pretty last minute. Turns out his wife was SUPER pregnant and if she went into labor he would have to leave the wedding. Well I absolutely couldn’t say no to that.
I lived in La Crosse for 6 years before moving to Green Bay, so it is always great getting back to the area. You trade the bluffs of Western Wisconsin for the coast and waters of the East side of Wisconsin. Both beautiful in their own right but you appreciate the scenery more when you haven’t been back to the area in a while.
The day started at The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for the Wedding and than we headed to Grandad Bluff. Allison and Nicholas had their first look here earlier in the day and we returned for their couple session and family portraits. If you have never been to this spot, well just look at the photos overlooking La Crosse. It is like you are in the mountains and forget you are still in Wisconsin.
The reception was at the La Crosse Country Club. It had been over 5 years since I had been here to photograph again so it was nice being back. The cocktail hour was outdoors on a perfect spring day. (if the weather permits for your wedding, you have to do this outdoors if you can and the space allows. Just a little wedding tip for you!) Total Wisconsin cocktail hour too. Full trays of cheese curds and beer on tap? Yeah that is where it is at! Doesn’t matter where you are from.
The reception space was tastefully decorated by Weddings by Nancy of La Crosse and she does a fantastic job. Definitely the go to if you are getting married around La Crosse. Again, look at the photos of the reception space. She is the best!
Awesome day, awesome couple location and vendors! What more can you ask for? Oh and Gene made it till right after the first dance than he got the baby call so he had to jet! (was a false alarm they didn’t have baby Finn for 3 more days)
